Between 1992 and 2000, hot rod enthusiast Darrell Zipp designed and manufactured two composite models of the popular 1932 Ford Roadster and Ford Vicky. Better known as the Zipper Deuce. Both models added a more modern style hood and removable roof, representing that of the ever-popular Hot Wheels® cars. In 2000 Zipp’s interest turned toward the 1927 Lake Model cars and his Deuce era moved to Brinkley Hot Rods In Oregon.
In 2008, Zipper Motors was acquired By Duane and Jeremy Palmer, from Zipp, moving the production to Salt Lake City, Utah. From 2008 to 2019, Zipper Motors continued to produce the Lake Model cars with high quality and great success. In 2018, the Palmers reunited the Lake and the Deuce models under the Zipper Motors Umbrella.
In mid-December of 2020, Jeremy contracted Covid-19. Tragically he lost his fight with the disease on January 13th, 2021. Then, in October 2021, Darrell Zipp passed away at the age of 75.
